Entrelac

Of course, there is still a small project update.

Besides “Christmas presents that are homemade even though you don’t really celebrate Christmas and don’t need anything anyway…”, there is also an update. I’m refreshing what I’ve learned in the past, thanks to Youtubers at this point, and I’m teaching myself new techniques.

Today I am implementing “Entrelac”. I still have some wool scraps that are normally used to crochet fabric baskets. Now I’m going to make something like “coasters” out of them.

You can see a “in progress” photo below this text.

For all those who are interested, here is a wikipedia link. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entrelac
But it’s all about knitting. I decided to crochet. That is, “Tunisian crochet” with Entrelac “techinique” or something <3

news

Now this is definitely no longer a “daily creative stuff” blog.
So much has happened.
But I don’t want to let this die slowly, so I’m going to start again without much explanation or remorse.

We are moving and not all at once, but bit by bit as we don’t have a car. (Conscious decision)

So the boxes and all the creative stuff arrive only sporadically. What this does for me – it leads to a new look at the things I own and opens up new ideas.

I’m in a strange mood right now. My brain needs to recover from the last few weeks, there was a lot of stress and I’m trying to slow down.

I watch cultural documentaries, learn new handicraft techniques and play this zombie game with friends in between. This way I hope I can also manage official and doctor’s stuff on the side without being immediately overwhelmed. A mix that works quite well for me.

So let’s see where it goes with my “online blogging diary of the creative kind”. Maybe once a week, maybe once a month a blog post? But in any case, I won’t bow to this self-imposed pressure to perform! 😉

shark for scale

beginning of a red knitting jacket

We were in Udine – that’s in Italy, up in the shaft of the boot. If anyone is interested, here is a wikipedia link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Udine. Anyway, there was this wool shop and these nice ladies working there and this charming “hand-foot-gesture-crumb-Italian-communication” was just so good that I had to go straight out and get wool for a project I had picked out on ravelry the night before. On the day of departure, I had to get some wool for a baby blanket, I don’t know which baby it should be for, but maybe it will come up with someone else.

loopi 4 life

beginning of a loopi. yellow. for a child

And again a Loopi, but this time a traditional one. That means I got the instructions from an Icelandic site and it is knitted from the bottom up and not from the top down like the one I posted yesterday. This one should be manageable because it’s supposed to be for a six year old. I want to hand it over in not quite a month, so maybe I can do it.

someone is knitting in the state of Denmark

the beginning of a traditional loopi. this is a icelandic jumperstyle.

When I was in Denmark with a person I really like, of course I had to take a project home with me. Since I always wanted to go to Iceland – but Denmark is not Iceland, but at least Scandinavian – I got this loopi pattern in a very very very nice wool shop. And now I only have to knit right stitches and I’m in a knitting crisis.

shortly in between because it is 1 May

Every month I write the days of the week and the month in a different language in my journal. This month I also wrote the heading for recording my period in a different language. Dni krwawienia is Polish and should roughly mean “bleeding days – in my opinion it means also: days of horror/pain.”

Co miesiÄ…c zapisujÄ™ w swoim dzienniku dni tygodnia i miesiÄ…ca w innym jÄ™zyku. W tym miesiÄ…cu napisaÅ‚em też rubrykÄ™ dotyczÄ…cÄ… zapisywania mojego okresu w innym jÄ™zyku. Dni krwawienia to po polsku “dni grozy/boleÅ›ci”.

basket

This is the bottom of a rectangular crochet basket. I think at some point it was trendy to have crocheted baskets. I find it very exhausting and have only finished one so far. But these are the weeks of unfinished things, so here is an unfinished crochet basket that didn’t do my wrist much good.

scarfication

knitting - scarf, colourful with shadow effect

This is supposed to be an “effect scarf”, based on a pattern from a very expensive newspaper. Since it is so expensive, I only have one, and only because I wanted to knit the scarf. I didn’t buy enough wool and buying the same lot was an odyssey of several weeks. Here, too, it is important to know where you are in the pattern. Otherwise you won’t see the diamond effect, but it’s hard to see in the photo anyway.

cap or not .. cap.

cap for a kid

I think this should be a cap…
I tried the ballish app here, but unfortunately it’s no longer available and I don’t have the instructions for it. So I’ll have to think about whether I’ll ever finish it.
